John Ernst Steinbeck (1902 -1968)

The adventure book bestseller author wrote several novels without success until he wrote the bestseller Tortilla Flat in 1935.  Steinbeck achieved the ultimate success when The Grapes of Wrath (1939) won the Pulitzer Prize.
